A more considered way to travel China.

Abbiamo scelto AVIORA perché volevamo scoprire la Cina in modo privato e confortevole, ma senza vivere un viaggio troppo costruito o impersonale. Fin dai primi contatti ci hanno fatto molte domande: che tipo di hotel preferivamo, quanto tempo volevamo dedicare alle visite, che tipo di cucina ci interessava e quanto spazio desideravamo avere per noi. Il risultato è stato molto più personale di un normale pacchetto turistico. Gli hotel erano eleganti, confortevoli e soprattutto ben posizionati. La macchina privata ci ha permesso di muoverci facilmente e la nostra guida ci ha fatto conoscere una Cina molto più interessante di quella che avremmo potuto scoprire da soli.

We contacted several companies before choosing AVIORA, and the difference was surprisingly obvious. Most of the other companies started by sending us a fixed itinerary. AVIORA started by asking questions. What kind of hotels do you normally choose? Do you prefer famous sights or local neighbourhoods? How much free time matters to you? What would make the trip uncomfortable? Those questions gave us confidence that they were actually designing something rather than simply selling a package. The finished trip was very well balanced. We stayed in upscale hotels in convenient parts of the cities, had private transportation throughout the organised days and had a guide who was both knowledgeable and genuinely enjoyable to spend time with. The guide could discuss history for an hour, then suddenly take us to a local place for tea or food that wasn't on any tourist checklist. That combination is what made AVIORA worth choosing.

Per me, la parte più importante del viaggio è stata la scelta degli hotel. Avevamo chiesto ad AVIORA qualcosa di veramente confortevole, ma non volevamo semplicemente “l'hotel più costoso”. Le strutture che hanno scelto erano di alto livello, con camere molto confortevoli e posizioni eccellenti. In alcune città potevamo uscire a piedi la sera per cenare o fare una passeggiata, cosa che abbiamo apprezzato moltissimo. Dopo giornate intense, tornare in una camera silenziosa e ben curata faceva una grande differenza. Ho capito che il vero lusso non è soltanto il numero di stelle, ma come l'hotel contribuisce all'intera esperienza.

We knew a private luxury trip to China wouldn't be the cheapest option, and frankly, that wasn't what we were looking for. Our concern was whether the higher price would actually translate into a better experience. With AVIORA, the answer was largely yes. The value wasn't simply in the hotels, although the hotels were excellent. It was in all the friction we didn't have to deal with. We never had to figure out local transfers, negotiate taxis, work out the best time to leave or wonder what was happening next. Our guide and driver made the practical side of the trip almost invisible. At the same time, the trip never felt over-managed. We had quiet mornings, local meals, time for photography and opportunities to explore beyond the major sights. For us, that is what premium travel should mean: not unnecessary extravagance, but a better use of time.

One thing I particularly appreciated was the hotel selection. Before speaking with AVIORA, I assumed “luxury hotel” simply meant choosing the most expensive five-star property in each city. Their approach was much more thoughtful. They looked at where we would actually spend our time and selected hotels that balanced design, service, location and comfort. That mattered every day. In some cities we were close enough to walk to restaurants and shopping areas in the evening. In others, the hotel gave us a quiet place to retreat after a busy sightseeing day. The rooms were spacious, the beds were excellent and the breakfasts gave us a relaxed start rather than another rushed part of the schedule. I also loved that AVIORA didn't separate luxury from local culture. We could stay somewhere beautifully polished and then spend the afternoon in a market, tea house or neighbourhood that felt completely ordinary and authentic.

Abbiamo scelto AVIORA per una ricorrenza importante in famiglia e volevamo qualcosa di veramente speciale. Non cercavamo solo hotel costosi. Volevamo sentirci bene durante tutto il viaggio. AVIORA ha capito perfettamente questo punto. Abbiamo avuto hotel di ottimo livello, camere molto confortevoli, trasferimenti privati e una guida che ha reso la parte culturale molto più interessante. Ma i ricordi che portiamo a casa sono soprattutto quelli più semplici: una cena locale, una passeggiata serale, una casa da tè e una lunga conversazione con la nostra guida. Per noi, AVIORA ha trasformato una vacanza importante in un'esperienza davvero personale.

We had a fantastic trip overall, although one day was more ambitious than we would have chosen ourselves. What mattered was how AVIORA responded. When we mentioned that we preferred a slower rhythm, they didn't simply say the itinerary had already been fixed. They adjusted the following day and made the pace more comfortable. The rest of the trip was very well judged. The private car was clean and spacious, the hotels were consistently comfortable and the guide was excellent at deciding when to add detail and when to keep things moving. For me, the value of AVIORA was less about any one individual service and more about how all the pieces worked together. You could feel that somebody was looking at the journey as a whole rather than just arranging separate hotels, transfers and sightseeing.

Nuestro guía fue extraordinario porque parecía más un anfitrión local que un guía tradicional. Nos explicó la historia, pero también nos habló de restaurantes, costumbres, trabajo y vida familiar. Teníamos conversaciones muy naturales y muchas veces terminábamos hablando de cosas que ni siquiera estaban en el programa. AVIORA también fue muy buena gestionando el ritmo. Nunca sentimos que hubiera que correr para “terminar” el día. Los hoteles eran excelentes, y regresar cada noche a una habitación cómoda hacía que todo fuera mucho más fácil. Para nosotros, el lujo fue precisamente esa sensación de que todo estaba cuidado sin que nosotros tuviéramos que pensar demasiado.

We genuinely enjoyed the trip, and I appreciated that AVIORA didn't pretend every day would be effortless. One day involved quite a long transfer, but the team prepared us properly, the vehicle was comfortable and the hotel that evening was excellent. That honesty made the rest of the journey more trustworthy. We weren't promised a fantasy. We were given a well-designed trip with realistic expectations. The rest of the itinerary was beautifully paced. The guide was engaging, the hotels were consistently high quality and the local experiences made the journey much more interesting than simply ticking off landmarks. For me, the biggest compliment I can give is that I would be comfortable recommending AVIORA to friends who normally organise their own travel. I think they would appreciate the difference.

We chose AVIORA because we wanted a trip that felt sophisticated but still gave us room to explore independently. That was exactly how it worked. The organised portion of each day was seamless. We had our guide, private vehicle and planned visits, but once the main activities were finished we weren't automatically pushed into another scheduled event. Because the hotels were well located, it was easy to continue exploring on our own. I also appreciated the quality of the rooms. After walking through cities all day, having a comfortable bed, excellent shower and quiet environment was not a minor detail. It changed how much energy we had the following morning. For us, AVIORA delivered a level of comfort that made the entire trip more enjoyable, not simply more expensive.

China can look complicated from the outside, especially when you start thinking about distances, language and transport between cities. AVIORA made it feel manageable without dumbing the experience down. The guide helped us understand what was worth seeing and, equally importantly, what wasn't worth spending hours on. That saved us from the common problem of trying to do everything. The private vehicle also made the trip much more comfortable than public transport would have been for our family. We had space for luggage, could relax between visits and never had to worry about finding the next taxi. The hotels were consistently strong, and the combination of comfort and local access made the trip feel far more premium than a standard package.

Nuestro guía fue probablemente la persona que más valor añadió al viaje. No parecía interesado en simplemente darnos información y continuar. Nos hablaba de historia, pero también de comida, familias, costumbres y de cómo ha cambiado la vida en China. Además, tenía muchísimo sentido del humor. A veces una explicación histórica terminaba convirtiéndose en una conversación sobre la vida moderna en China y nos pasábamos veinte minutos hablando de algo completamente distinto. Nunca fue aburrido. Eso hizo que incluso las visitas más conocidas tuvieran mucho más sentido. Creo que un buen guía cambia una excursión, pero un gran guía cambia la manera en que recuerdas un país.
