Private China tour pricing is shaped by the trip you actually want to take, not by a single standard package. Travel dates, group size, hotel level, room category, route, guide coverage, transport, included meals, ticket availability and local support all change the quotation. A short trip using one hotel can cost less per day than a multi-city itinerary with premium rooms, domestic flights and daily private guiding, even when both are described online as a “private China tour.”
The useful question is therefore not only “What is the price of a private China tour?” It is “What exactly is included in this quotation, for these travelers, on these dates?” A credible proposal should answer that question line by line, so you can compare value rather than compare two unexplained totals.

The 60-Second Answer
Before comparing totals, check five things: the exact hotel and room category, guide and vehicle coverage, intercity transport class, included tickets and meals, and the exclusions. If any of those are missing, the quotations are not yet comparable.

The Six Factors That Change The Price Most
1. Travel Dates And Seasonal Demand
China hotel and transport prices move by date. Public holidays, school breaks, major exhibitions, citywide events and peak landscape seasons can change availability before they change the visible itinerary. National Day Golden Week is the clearest example, but smaller local peaks also matter.
A quotation prepared without exact dates is only a planning indication. Once dates are known, the operator can check real hotel inventory, room categories, train or flight schedules and attraction capacity. If your dates are flexible, ask for two windows rather than one vague “best season” recommendation.
2. Number Of Travelers
Private guiding and vehicle costs are shared across the party, while hotels, attraction tickets and many meals are priced per person or per room. This means two travelers usually pay more per person than a family or small private group using the same guide and vehicle.
Group size also changes the correct vehicle. Two adults with light luggage may fit comfortably in a premium car, while four adults with international suitcases may need an MPV or minibus. A cheap quotation based on an undersized vehicle is not equivalent to a properly planned one.
3. Hotel Location, Level And Room Category
The words “four-star” or “five-star” are not enough to compare hotels. Location can reduce transfer time every day. Room size, breakfast, bedding, connecting-room availability, club access, cancellation terms and whether the quoted room is entry-level or upgraded can materially change both price and experience.
Ask every operator to state:
- the proposed hotel or a clearly defined equivalent;
- the exact room category;
- whether breakfast and taxes are included;
- whether the rate is refundable;
- the bedding assumption; and
- whether family or connecting rooms are confirmed or only requested.
AVIORA uses three planning levels—comfortable, luxury and ultra-bespoke—but the final choice is made hotel by hotel. A well-located comfortable hotel can be better than a nominally higher-category property that creates long daily transfers.
4. Route And Intercity Transport
A Beijing-only stay has a different cost structure from a route linking Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu and Shanghai. Each city change can introduce tickets, station or airport transfers, luggage handling, guide handovers and another hotel check-in.
High-speed rail is often efficient between city centres, but first class, business class and last-minute availability affect the price. Domestic flights may save time on longer sectors but add airport transfers and baggage conditions. The lowest transport fare is not automatically the lowest total trip cost when it creates an extra night, an early departure or a difficult connection.

5. Guide And Private Vehicle Coverage
“Private tour” can mean very different things. One quote may include a licensed English-speaking guide and private vehicle for full sightseeing days. Another may include only transfers, a guide for selected attractions, or a driver who does not provide guiding.
Confirm the daily service window, guide language, vehicle type, airport or station assistance, overtime rules and what happens on free evenings. Families, older travelers and first-time visitors often benefit from stronger arrival and transfer support, while experienced travelers may prefer some independent time.
6. Tickets, Meals And Special Arrangements
Important attraction tickets, shows, specialist experiences, premium restaurant reservations and dietary planning can all change the final cost. A quotation that excludes major entrance fees may look cheaper while leaving a substantial amount to pay locally.
Muslim-friendly, vegetarian, allergy-aware or mobility-aware planning should be described as a confirmed process, not a vague promise. Supplier checks, suitable restaurant choices, walking loads, vehicle access and guide briefing all require work even when they are not displayed as a separate line item.
